Sunstack Jones – Golden Repair
Kicking off reviews for 2021 in February, bypassing January completely, in the midst of a snowstorm the likes of which has not been seen in these parts in ages. Fitting, really. What better company than that of an old friend? I am speaking of the new record by...
Conduit of Humanity – Equality
The Conduit of Humanity project released a promising debut album The Zen Cage late last year. An album featuring many musicians and collaborations, it made an impact on me. To this day, it warrants repeated listens. Fred Jeske & his collaborators were inspired by...

Martin Rossiter – The Defenestration of St. Martin
It has been said that "beauty in distress is the most affecting beauty". It has also been said that "the soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone". Both statements appeal to my inner sense of beauty, though they do not necessarily accurately convey my personal...
John Lennon – Now and Then
Attack of the Killer Track! is a series that explores lesser known tracks from artists from a variety of genres. Some of the tracks were singles, some of them were obscure b-sides or long forgotten album tracks. One thing is certain – all of them are killer tracks....
New Order – Lost Sirens
Families can be curious things, can't they? One minute family members are fighting, swearing never to deal with each other again - the next, they are vowing to always be there for each other. I tend to think of New Order in those terms - off and on fighting throughout...
The Sixth Great Lake – Up the Country
Part 41 of a series that will run the last Friday of each month throughout 2013 as I discuss records that have affected me throughout the years – Flashback Fridays Well so much for sticking to my "2013 Mission Statement" for this series - I mistakenly thought today...

Vancouver – July’s Tapes
I've been to Vancouver, B.C. about a dozen times over the years (maybe more). People not from the Pacific Northwest may look at the close proximity of Seattle, WA and think "There can't be that much of a difference.". They'd be wrong. Dead wrong. Once you cross over...

Death Threat Cassette – Lo-Fi or Die
The pull of the Pacific Northwest can be very strong. I felt it in my teens as the grunge revolution exploded nationwide. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains - all bands that became intertwined with how I presented myself to the world. Lyrics that came from a sense of...

23 Albums Touched by the Hand of God in 2012
23 albums touched by the hand of God in 2012 – a non-numbered list of albums that I’ve played over and over that were released in 2012. Some of them were reviewed here on Jason’s Jukebox, some of them weren’t. All of them are worth your time and attention. The last...
Dido – No Angel
Part 40 of a series that will run every Friday throughout 2012 as I discuss records that have affected me throughout the years – Flashback Fridays Perspective can be a curious thing. In the context of the present, a struggle can seem insurmountable - the prospects...
Metallica – …And Justice for All
Part 39 of a series that will run every Friday throughout 2012 as I discuss records that have affected me throughout the years – Flashback Fridays Middle School can be a strange time for a kid (or Jr. High in some school districts). Emotions run high, new thoughts...
Green Day – ¡Tré!
The Violent Femmes once introduced a verse in the song "Prove My Love" singing "Third verse / same as the first". Larry and Andy Wachowski also created two sequels to the movie The Matrix that severely diluted the impact of the original (in my humble opinion). Green...
The Cornelius Crane – E.P. Too
The word "Americana" when applied to music conjures up visions of acoustic guitar, singing with friends around a fire, and an authentic approach to the music and lyrics. All of these things are true - at its best it can incorporate country, folk, bluegrass, and even...
